[Asia Economy Reporters Wondara and Jeon Jinyoung] Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated that he is considering pursuing a parliamentary audit regarding the disciplinary action against Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol.

On the morning of the 25th at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, Lee said, "The charges against Prosecutor General Yoon revealed by the Ministry of Justice are shocking," adding, "The most shocking is the surveillance of judges. We must investigate the truth of whether such an outdated and extremely dangerous practice still exists within the prosecution and eradicate it."

He continued, "Our party must also do what is necessary," and emphasized, "Alongside the Ministry of Justice's investigation, I hope the party will consider pursuing a parliamentary audit."

Regarding Prosecutor General Yoon, he said, "For the future of the prosecution, I hope he will decide his own position." He also stated, "The candidate recommendation committee for the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) will reconvene this afternoon. The necessity of the CIO was once again proven by yesterday's announcement from the Ministry of Justice," and added, "I hope the recommendation of CIO chief candidates will conclude today."

Kim Tae-nyeon, floor leader of the Democratic Party, also said, "Illegal surveillance of the judiciary was something unimaginable," emphasizing, "Illegal surveillance is a grave crime and a serious disruption of national order that cannot be tolerated in the Moon Jae-in administration, which was inaugurated after the impeachment of the Park Geun-hye government due to state and judicial corruption."

Kim added, "It was Prosecutor General Yoon himself who refused the opportunity to explain his charges during the inspection process," and said, "He should now approach the disciplinary committee proceedings with the attitude befitting the head of the prosecution organization."
