[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Coway Environmental Technology Research Institute announced on the 25th that it has received a satisfactory rating for 13 consecutive years in the international proficiency testing for drinking water testing institution recognition.

The international proficiency testing is an internationally accredited evaluation program that verifies testing and analysis capabilities through proficiency testing institutions certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The evaluation method involves receiving an unknown sample containing a certain concentration of substances, analyzing it, and submitting the results to the verification institution to confirm the analysis results for each item.

Coway Environmental Technology Research Institute demonstrated excellent measurement and analysis capabilities in drinking water quality testing by receiving satisfactory ratings in all 17 items related to drinking water, including heavy metals, organic substances, and ionic substances, in the 'Drinking Water International Proficiency Testing' hosted by the global pharmaceutical company Merck. Since first obtaining a satisfactory rating for drinking water testing in 2008, Coway has been recognized for its world-class water quality analysis capabilities and data reliability for 13 years, the company explained.

Coway’s dedicated water quality analysis organization, the Environmental Analysis Center of the Environmental Technology Research Institute, is staffed with numerous experts, including environmental measurement analysts certified by the Ministry of Environment and Certified Water Specialists (CWS) certified by the Water Quality Association (WQA) in the United States. Based on specialized water-related research personnel and analytical technology, the Environmental Analysis Center conducts free water quality inspections once a year to ensure customers can use water purifiers with confidence. Additionally, it issues internationally recognized official test reports.

Furthermore, Coway has built a Water Map service based on accumulated water quality analysis data and is implementing related services. The Water Map service analyzes water from various regions across Korea to build a water quality database, which is then used to identify customized filters according to the water quality environment of customers' homes and recommend suitable products.

Park Chanjeong, head of Coway Environmental Technology Research Institute, said, “Through this international proficiency testing, Coway’s water quality analysis capabilities have once again been recognized as world-class. We will continue to make our best efforts to provide water that customers can trust and drink with confidence based on the highest level of analytical capabilities.”
