[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsan City, Gyeongbuk Province, announced on the 24th that it has signed a collective bargaining agreement with the Public Officials Labor Union (Chairperson Park Mi-jung) in a small conference room.
The collective agreement, attended by 14 negotiators from both labor and management, is the first since the labor union was established on July 29 last year. It is the result of three rounds of practical negotiations over three months, starting with a meeting on August 14.
The agreement includes ▲ regular 'Labor-Management Communication Meetings' ▲ realization of special leave ▲ expansion of health checkup support ▲ establishment of health management and childbirth encouragement support policies, aiming to increase communication opportunities between labor and management and improve welfare benefits.
Choi Young-jo, Mayor of Gyeongsan City, said, "I thank the public officials' union for reaching a smooth labor-management agreement based on communication and trust despite the difficult conditions caused by COVID-19," and added, "I expect them to play a leading role in developing labor-management relations as a win-win partner for city administration development."
Park Mi-jung, Chairperson of the labor union, responded, "We will continue to gather strength and wisdom to create a workplace where people want to work and strive to build a healthy public service labor-management culture through mutual understanding and communication."
Meanwhile, the Gyeongsan City Public Officials Labor Union currently has 1,300 members, accounting for 97.3% of the total.
