Outstanding Poster Award at the '2020 Chugye Academic Conference'
Students from the Department of Design Engineering at the College of IT Convergence Components and Materials Engineering, Dong-Eui University, won the Grand Prize in the Capstone Competition and the Excellence Poster Award at the "2020 Korean Society of Human Factors Fall Conference," held from October 28 to 31 at the Jeju International Convention Center in Seogwipo, Jeju.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Students from the Department of Design Engineering, College of IT Convergence Components and Materials Engineering at Dong-Eui University (President Han Su-hwan) won the Grand Prize in the Capstone Competition and the Excellence Poster Award at the "2020 Korean Society of Human Factors and Ergonomics Fall Conference," held from October 28 to 31 at the Jeju International Convention Center in Seogwipo, Jeju.
The student team from Dong-Eui University's Department of Design Engineering, consisting of third-year students Lee Yoon-kyung (team leader), Kim Seul-gi, Jang Yoon-jung, Kim Seo-hee, and Hwang Soo-bin (advising professor Lee Jae-in), proposed a presenter titled "Presenter Considering Ergonomic and Aesthetic Design Elements," which allows users to conveniently use the presenter according to their expectations.
The presenter received much better evaluations in terms of learning outcomes, error rates, and satisfaction compared to existing presenters.
This year's Capstone Competition, marking its 10th anniversary, featured a total of seven teams, with the Dong-Eui University team winning the highest award, the Grand Prize.
Second-year student Park Ji-hye from the Department of Design Engineering and third-year students Kim Min-joo and Jang Yeon-hee from the Human-System Design Engineering major received the Excellence Poster Award at this conference for their research titled "Investigation on Safety Devices Related to the Hands and Feet of Press Operators" (advising professor Lee Jae-in).
They conducted an investigation on safety devices suited to the line of sight of press operators, proposing the necessity of safety devices and summarizing operators' opinions on these devices.
Professor Lee Jae-in, the advising professor, explained, "Among the 50 posters submitted to this conference, the research was highly evaluated for its excellence and poster design quality. Existing safety devices use hands more efficiently than feet, and from the operator's perspective, the focus was on work efficiency, proposing an environment where operators can work stably while improving efficiency."
Park Ji-hye, the lead author of this research, said, "While conducting the investigation, I was able to understand the risks of press machines in Korea and the conditions of operators regarding safety devices. By reviewing many published papers, I was able to find various problem-solving methods."
The Korean Society of Human Factors and Ergonomics, founded in 1982, has played a central role in the development of human factors engineering in Korea for nearly 40 years. It publishes six journals annually and holds two academic conferences each year, awarding the Capstone Competition, Human Factors Design Award, and Human Factors Academic Award. Currently, about 2,000 members and 500 regular members are active.
