Installation of Solar Tree Photovoltaic Panels in Forest Spaces
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Porsche Korea opened the first 'Porsche Dream Circle,' a new project linked to the brand's sustainability values, at Pangyo Elementary School in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province on the 24th.
The 'Porsche Dream Circle' is part of Porsche Korea's social contribution campaign 'Porsche Do Dream,' now in its fourth year. It is a new project that provides students with a learning space where they can freely play in nature and raises awareness of the importance of carbon neutrality and resource circulation values.
The Dream Circle, introduced for the first time this year, is carried out through a tripartite partnership between Porsche Korea, the social welfare foundation Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, and the social enterprise Triple Planet. Starting with Pangyo Elementary School, the project will expand its support to Eunjin Elementary School, Jamhyeon Elementary School, and further extend to low-income areas to reduce energy costs.
The opening ceremony at Pangyo Elementary School was attended by Holger Gehrmann, CEO of Porsche Korea; Kim Hak-su, principal of Pangyo Elementary School; Kim Hyung-su, CEO of Triple Planet; and Kim Yoo-sung, head of the Seoul Southern Regional Headquarters of the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation. They held a plaque presentation and a commemorative tree planting ceremony.
The first Porsche Dream Circle, covering an area of 250㎡, features a forest space composed of various planted trees and solar tree photovoltaic panels. The solar tree generates solar energy used to measure the condition of the trees, such as temperature and humidity, enabling automatic watering and management. It also allows charging of electronic devices, introducing Korea's first smart forest system.
CEO Holger Gehrmann said, “We are pleased to introduce a meaningful social contribution program that aligns with the sustainability values pursued by our brand. We hope the Porsche Dream Circle will become a new space beyond a simple learning area, where students can grow healthily and develop the ability and environmental awareness to live in harmony with nature.”
