[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) announced on the 24th that it has conducted a study to establish a basic youth policy plan through 2022 in order to implement a leading and systematic youth policy that can respond to rapidly changing socio-cultural environments.


The study was carried out for about five months from May to last month by a team of youth-related experts from Chung-Ang University, including Professor Moon Seong-ho of the Department of Social Welfare at Chung-Ang University, based on "analysis of various youth policies of the central and local governments" and "demands of local youth and youth field experts through surveys and interviews."


As a result of the study, based on the youth policy vision of "Seodaemun-gu youth who lead their daily lives, achieve their dreams, and enjoy happiness," four major policy goals, ten core tasks, and 23 detailed tasks were derived.


The four major policy goals are ▲ Realization of Seodaemun-type participation leading daily life ▲ Innovative reorganization of youth activities ▲ Establishment of a dense net-like self-reliance and protection system ▲ Strengthening of a sustainable youth policy promotion system.


The ten core tasks include strengthening life-oriented participation, guaranteeing youth activity rights that respond to changes, establishing and implementing an e-mentoring system, and enhancing career support.


As a separate task, the establishment of a youth safety net model and the enhancement of projects to "strengthen prevention and support for at-risk youth," as well as the preparation of related institutional grounds, were presented, resulting in eight detailed tasks accordingly.


Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, stated, "In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, we will actively strive to implement projects and build safety nets based on the results of this study so that youth can enjoy a happy and safe daily life and dream of the future."
