Introducing a Future-Oriented Innovative Branch Model Integrating Banks' Face-to-Face and Non-Face-to-Face Channels
Enabling Bank Transactions at the Level of In-Person Staff Through Video Consultations
[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Shinhan Bank announced on the 24th that it will open the ‘Digitate Branch,’ a future-oriented innovative branch model applying a video consultation system for the first time among commercial banks, at the Seosomun branch.
‘Digitate’ is a compound word of Digital and Contact, and the ‘Digitate Branch’ is a future-oriented innovative branch model that integrates the bank’s face-to-face and non-face-to-face channels, allowing customers to remotely conduct transactions with video consultation specialists at video consultation counters.
The video consultation booth is equipped with a large screen, video consultation camera, keypad, palm vein recognition device, ID and seal scanner, enabling customers to handle various consultation materials and complete transactions from identity verification to completion at a level equivalent to direct face-to-face interaction with bank staff.
The Digitate Branch was planned to promote customer-centric sales by expanding financial accessibility. It can be installed anywhere customers need with only about 2 pyeong (approximately 6.6 square meters) of space, and video consultation specialists belonging to Shinhan Bank’s Digital Sales Department can conduct financial consultations with customers nationwide through the installed Digitate Branches, replacing offline branches, which is expected to greatly improve financial accessibility for financially vulnerable groups.
Starting with the Seosomun branch on this day, Shinhan Bank plans to expand the Digitate Branch to various channels such as small branches and unmanned branches next year, gradually broadening the scope of possible services from new savings and deposit accounts and loan consultations to develop it into a customer-friendly channel that can connect anytime and anywhere.
A Shinhan Bank official said, “The Digitate Branch, which integrates the bank’s face-to-face and non-face-to-face channels, will be a future-oriented innovative branch model capable of improving financial accessibility and providing new customer experiences,” adding, “We will continue to introduce various branch models through innovation of the bank’s online and offline channels to provide customer-centric value.”
