[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] GS25, a convenience store operated by GS Retail, announced on the 24th that it has planned and launched four types of fresh food, including lunch boxes and gimbap, using Spam as the main ingredient under the 'Spam Maeilham' series.
The Spam Maeilham series is a product name that uses a double meaning, combining 'Spam Maeil' (every day), meaning enjoying Spam every day, and 'spam mail,' referring to unwanted emails.
GS25 developed various types of fresh food using the popular ingredient Spam so that customers can enjoy Spam in different ways every day. At the same time, the series carries a message to 'delete all' the difficult and depressing memories of this year, especially due to COVID-19, by likening them to spam mail, presenting a differentiated product.
GS25 partnered with CJ CheilJedang and went through a process of discussing product composition, detailed concepts, and design for over four months to finalize the 'Spam Maeilham' series.
The fresh foods introduced by GS25 under the 'Spam Maeilham' series include News Spam Grilled Lunch Box, Spam Stir-fried Kimchi Gimbap, Spam Egg Triangle Gimbap, and Spam Budae Stir-fried Triangle Gimbap, totaling four types. Prices range from 1,200 to 4,500 won.
