Explaining from Concept to Support Measures... Introduction to Job Committee Consulting Project
Dedicated Website Launch in November... Government "Upgrading Regional Projects"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Following the Gwangju-type and Hoengseong·Miryang-type jobs, the government will hold a briefing session to discover the third type of win-win regional jobs.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that the Presidential Committee on Jobs (Win-win Regional Jobs Support Center) will hold a 'Win-win Regional Jobs Briefing Session' via video conference on the 24th from 2 PM, divided into three regions.
On this day, the first briefing session will be held targeting Jeolla Province, Gwangju, Chungcheong Province, Daejeon, and Sejong. On the 1st of next month, the second briefing session will be held targeting Gyeongbuk, Daegu, and Gangwon Province, and on the 3rd of next month, the third briefing session will be held targeting Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam.
The first briefing session will explain the 'Win-win Regional Jobs' and introduce the support center's consulting projects and dedicated website. Related organizations such as metropolitan and basic local governments, industrial research institutes, and technoparks will attend.
An official from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said, "Win-win jobs refer to a new type of project that creates sustainable, quality regional jobs based on a social grand compromise among labor, management, civil society, and government, beyond general corporate investment and job creation."
Local governments have also signed win-win agreements in several regions starting with Gwangju in January last year. Following Gwangju, Miryang in June, Gumi in July, Gangwon in August, and Gunsan in October signed agreements last year. Busan followed in February this year.
In this briefing session, the Ministry will explain the concept of win-win regional jobs, the promotion system, and support projects. It will also convey management and implementation plans such as preparing annual reports on project progress and plans after selection.
In particular, it will provide detailed explanations of the selection evaluation items and criteria to guide local governments in reducing trial and error during the project promotion process, including model conception, signing of win-win agreements, and establishment of business plans.
The support center will introduce its main functions. A dedicated website will be launched this month. Plans for consulting support next year will be explained.
Kim Hyun-cheol, Director of Regional Economic Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said, "The Gwangju-type and Hoengseong·Miryang-type jobs have been selected as win-win regional jobs and are receiving government support, marking the fruition of efforts for solidarity and cooperation among labor, management, civil society, and government in the regions."
Director Kim added, "The government will also spare no effort to support close communication with regions through consulting and briefing sessions, aiming to raise the level of win-win cooperation and sustainability of projects underway in the regions to the next level."
Earlier, the government announced the 'Win-win Regional Jobs Model Expansion Plan' in February last year. In September of the same year, it established the dedicated support organization, the Support Center.
In April this year, the government implemented the revision of the 'Special Act on Balanced National Development.' It held two win-win regional jobs review committees and selected the Gwangju-type (1st) in June and the Hoengseong·Miryang-type (2nd) jobs last month as win-win regional jobs.
