[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Mobile food life shop Hello Nature announced on the 24th that it will launch the ‘Park Ichu Coffee Special Exhibition’.
Park Ichu Coffee is a 30-year-old traditional roastery operated by first-generation barista Park Ichu, who led the popularization of hand-drip coffee in Korea.
The products sold in this special exhibition include four types of blended beans (New York, Italian, House, Espresso / 200g each) that mix two or more beans to experience a unique taste, and two types of single origin beans (Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia / 200g each) that offer distinctive flavors of single varieties.
Hello Nature is expanding its selection of beans by being the first online platform to introduce new bean products from famous roasteries nationwide, such as ‘Taylor Coffee’ in Seoul, ‘Dr. Man Coffee’ in Gyeonggi, and ‘Anthracite Coffee’ in Jeju, to meet the demands of customers with diverse coffee preferences.
The reason roasteries that hesitated to sell online due to concerns about bean deterioration during distribution are partnering one after another with Hello Nature is because of the sales principle of handling only fresh beans within one day of roasting and selling them within seven days.
Hello Nature operates only the optimal quantity based on daily order volume to deliver more than 40 types of coffee beans to customers in the freshest condition.
The reason Hello Nature continues to expand its lineup of famous roasteries’ beans is that, due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the number of home cafe enthusiasts who prefer to brew beans at home rather than visiting crowded cafes is increasing.
In fact, in the past month since COVID-19 began to spread again in earnest, Hello Nature’s bean sales increased by a whopping 17 times compared to last year, and accordingly, the number of items handled more than doubled.
The home cafe trend was also prominent in the popular product rankings within the coffee category. Last year, RTD coffee and stick-type powdered coffee, which can be easily enjoyed anywhere, ranked high in sales, whereas this year, home cafe products such as grinders and coffee filters necessary for brewing coffee entered the top 10.
Kim Minjung, MD of Hello Nature, said, “As COVID-19 spreads again, we are continuously expanding collaborations with famous local roasteries to soothe the disappointment of people staying at home who want to enjoy distinctive coffee,” adding, “Going forward, Hello Nature will evolve into an online coffee edit shop that satisfies various customers’ coffee preferences and proposes new tastes.”
