Support for Installation of Fever Screening Systems Including Thermal Imaging Cameras to Prevent Infectious Diseases Such as COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) will support the installation costs of 'thermal imaging cameras and combined hand sanitizer and fever measurement devices' at local daycare centers to prepare for infectious diseases such as COVID-19 and other harmful environments.
This project was selected as an excellent project by Yangcheon-gu in the 'Daycare Center Safety Management Pilot Project' announced by Seoul City, securing a budget of 100 million KRW to proceed.
From the 23rd, applications will be accepted from local daycare centers, and after screening, approximately 230 locations will be supported with a total of 100 million KRW for the establishment of a fever check system.
The district decided to support installation costs considering the facility conditions of each daycare center. Based on the size of the daycare centers, about 86 facilities with more than 30 children will receive support of about 1 million KRW each for installing thermal imaging cameras with functions to check mask-wearing and detect heat, while about 150 smaller daycare centers will be supported for installing combined hand sanitizer and fever measurement devices.
The district plans to establish a fever check system for daycare centers within this year to create a safe childcare environment through effective fever checks and health status confirmation for infectious disease prevention. Parents will be able to send their children to daycare centers with peace of mind, and teachers are expected to be relieved from the difficulty of individually checking the temperature of children and visitors while holding thermometers.
Since the beginning of this year, the district has made efforts to create a safe environment for sending children by providing protective supplies such as 259,000 masks and 9,400 hand sanitizers to local daycare centers multiple times to protect infants and toddlers vulnerable to infectious diseases during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “With social distancing being raised to level 2 from the 24th and the recent rapid spread of COVID-19, working families sending infants and toddlers to daycare centers are likely to be more concerned. Since infants and toddlers require more careful management, we will do our best to create a safe childcare environment through this support for the daycare center fever check system.”
