[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seoyangho) is distributing 10 KF94 health masks each to infants and children aged 0 to 18, elementary, middle, and high school students, youth, and pregnant women in the area.
As of the 17th, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases has increased to the 300s for the first time in 81 days since August 29, requiring even more careful adherence to daily quarantine rules such as wearing masks.
Accordingly, the district plans to distribute masks to the target groups to minimize damage in places with concerns of group infections such as schools and daycare centers, while urging strict compliance with personal prevention rules.
The total number of masks to be distributed is approximately 230,000.
Each mask recipient will receive 10 masks, and 10 masks will also be provided to the parents of the recipients. For a family of four with two children under 18, each child receives 10 masks plus an additional 10 masks, totaling 30 masks distributed. Pregnant women will also receive 10 masks.
The masks will be packaged in one bundle per household along with a prevention guideline notice. Distribution will begin on the 18th, with community leaders visiting households in each neighborhood sequentially. If the household is absent, a sticker will be attached to guide them to pick up the masks at the local community center.
Additionally, starting from the 26th, the district plans to distribute 200,000 masks, 10 per workplace, to sewing, printing, lighting, and other urban industry businesses with high local density.
Sewing and printing industries have high density in the same space and many closed and narrow areas, making them high-risk for infection. The district will distribute masks to these workplaces and check and urge compliance with COVID-19 prevention rules. Relevant departments, Jung-gu Clothing Fashion Support Center, and Printing Small Business Support Center will distribute the masks.
Seoyangho, Mayor of Jung-gu, said, "Masks are the best vaccine protecting all of us from COVID-19," and added, "Until the day everyone can live safely, we will surely protect the daily lives of our residents from COVID-19 through thorough quarantine and swift response."
