"Trying to Change the Law Because Things Don't Go Freely Due to Veto Power"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the 22nd, the People Power Party stated regarding the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency (PCA), "The ruling party should carefully consider whether the PCA's reckless sudden acceleration is an urgent matter that can stop the National Assembly," adding, "If they now want to overturn the situation, the People Power Party will do its utmost to fully block it."
People Power Party spokesperson Bae Jun-young said in an oral commentary that day, "The government and ruling party passed the PCA Act last winter through all sorts of reckless methods such as the fast track," and "The only justification promised to the opposition party was that the veto right would be guaranteed. Now, because that veto right is preventing things from going their way, they say they will even roll out the red carpet on the path to the PCA by changing the law."
Spokesperson Bae said, "The People Power Party has endured and endured again. We recommended PCA chief recommendation committee members and earnestly deliberated in three meetings," adding, "We endured even when the preliminary candidates for PCA chief recommended by our side were vetoed as candidates. We sincerely requested that if preliminary candidates are reselected, the review process would continue."
Spokesperson Bae also said, "We requested the appointment of the presidential special inspector, a position vacant for four years, before the launch of the PCA, but the Blue House ignored it," and "The Constitutional Court, which is supposed to review the constitutionality of the PCA, has not reached a conclusion."
