[Asia Economy Reporter Nahana] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, claimed that the third wave of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is starting again and that it is inevitable to raise the response level.

On the 21st, Governor Lee posted on his Facebook, "Thanks to the active participation of the people, we have been conducting COVID-19 prevention in the most excellent way in the world," but also stated, "The third wave is starting, so raising the response level is inevitable."

He continued, "We must delay the spread of infection and endure until treatments and vaccines are developed. Although it is difficult for everyone, if we unite and work together, we can definitely overcome it as we have done so far," he emphasized.

He also pointed out, "(Regarding the COVID-19 pandemic) the first wave was in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, the second wave in the metropolitan area, and now it is nationwide. Each time the pandemic repeats, the base widens and the intensity increases."

Governor Lee said, "As the number one worker for the people of Gyeonggi Province, I trust the citizens of Gyeonggi who boast high civic awareness," adding, "We will calmly prepare for the third shock and wisely overcome this crisis with solidarity and love."
