[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The KOSPI is fluctuating around the 2550 level. The KOSDAQ index is showing an upward trend in the 1% range.
As of 2:33 PM on the 20th, the KOSPI stood at 2549.77, up 0.09% (2.35 points) from the previous session. The KOSPI opened at 2544.06, down 0.13% (3.36 points) from the previous session. Looking at investor trends, institutions sold stocks worth 241.9 billion KRW in the KOSPI market. Foreigners and individuals bought stocks worth 29.4 billion KRW and 202.9 billion KRW, respectively.
Among the current top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics is up 0.15% from the previous session, trading at 64,700 KRW. LG Chem (0.38%) and Celltrion (0.51%) also rose. On the other hand, SK Hynix (-1.02%), Hyundai Motor (-1.39%), and Samsung SDI (-0.97%) declined.
The KOSDAQ index is at 869.22, up 1.08% (9.28 points) from the previous session. The index opened at 863.07, up 0.36% (3.13 points) from the previous session. Regarding investor trends, institutions and foreigners bought stocks worth 59.2 billion KRW and 119.8 billion KRW, respectively, while individuals alone sold stocks worth 121 billion KRW.
Most of the top KOSDAQ stocks are on the rise. Celltrion Healthcare recorded 99,000 KRW, up 1.33% from the previous session. Others such as Seegene (1.35%), HL Biopharma (3.22%), Alteogen (3.58%), and Celltrion Pharm (2.18%) also increased.
Lee Kyung-min, a researcher at Daishin Securities, explained, “The KOSPI is heading toward the 2600 level, and it is important to note that it continues to show relative strength regardless of fluctuations in global stock markets,” adding, “It is also important to pay attention to the rapid sector rotation that has been unfolding since the beginning of this month.”
