GeForce NOW Gaming Now Available on LTE Phones

Expansion of LTE Support to Smartphones and Tablets Including Galaxy Note9

GeForce NOW Gaming Now Available on LTE Phones

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] LG Uplus will provide over 300 popular games from GeForce NOW, which had been available only on 5G smartphones, to LTE smartphones as well.

On the 20th, LG Uplus announced that it will expand its cloud gaming service GeForce NOW to LTE phones and tablets, as well as the UHD2 set-top box for IPTV.

The service will be available on 58 models including the Galaxy Note9 and V40 released since 2018, as well as LTE tablets released in the same year. Users can download the app from the Google Play Store.

Starting from the 30th, GeForce NOW will also be accessible on the UHD2 set-top box. Until now, it was only available on regular PCs or Macs, 5G phones and tablets, UHD3 set-top boxes, and U+tv Free2.

When using LG Uplus’s internet and IPTV services, the GeForce NOW Basic plan (which requires reconnection every hour) is free of charge. For users who only use LG Uplus wireless services, the Basic plan is free for six months on LTE devices. Other carriers’ subscribers get one month free.

Since LG Uplus opened GeForce NOW to other carriers’ customers in August, the average daily number of users has increased about fivefold in three months. The average daily personal playtime also rose significantly from 86 minutes to 210 minutes. In response to requests to add supported devices along with opening to other carriers, the company expanded the applicable devices.

An LG Uplus official said, "Thanks to continuous efforts to secure service quality through optimization of NVIDIA and cloud servers and integration testing, we were able to expand supported devices to LTE phones and pads, as well as UHD2 set-top boxes."

To celebrate the expansion of supported devices, LG Uplus is holding an event. Until the 6th of next month, users who access GeForce NOW will receive a 40% discount coupon for the ‘Joytron Gamepad’. Through a lottery, 20 people will receive the Joytron Ex Revolution V2 gamepad and 100 people will receive the Joytron Andios gamepad for free. Users can apply on the event page after accessing GeForce NOW and playing games.

To commemorate the release of XL Games’ online game 'ArcheAge' on the set-top box, GeForce NOW premium codes will be provided to the first 2,000 users on a first-come, first-served basis until the 24th of next month.
