[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] On the 19th, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups selected the prestigious grand prize-winning teams in six major non-face-to-face categories of the "Senior Young Entrepreneurs Leading Junior Young Entrepreneurs Startup Contest" (hereinafter referred to as CheongCheongCon).

CheongCheongCon is an abbreviation for the "Senior Young Entrepreneurs Leading Junior Young Entrepreneurs Startup Contest," newly established this year with the third supplementary budget to discover innovative non-face-to-face startup ideas from youth (under 29 years old).

In response to the COVID-19 situation, the startup fields were limited to six major non-face-to-face categories, and senior young entrepreneurs leading the startup industry participated as judges and mentors to evaluate youth items from a youth perspective.

According to a survey conducted on participating teams on the 4th, the teams expressed high satisfaction with senior young entrepreneurs empathizing with them and mentoring them on important points to be cautious about during the actual startup process.

The competition rate was 41 to 1, with 738 teams applying.

For the final pitching evaluation, seven senior young entrepreneurs and 20 public jurors participated. The senior young entrepreneurs consisted of promising businesspeople, including those selected as Asia’s global leaders under 30 by Forbes and excellent companies selected by TIPS.

The public jurors were composed of 20 people selected from 369 applicants who applied during the recruitment announcement from the 12th of last month to the 4th of this month, based on startup experience and technical expertise.

The evaluation committee chair was CEO Lim Jaewon of "GoPizza." CEO Lim is a successful senior entrepreneur who founded GoPizza at the age of 29 and now operates over 70 stores nationwide within three years.

Park Youngsun, Minister of SMEs and Startups, said, "The 24 teams that made it to the final pitching of CheongCheongCon, the first event of ComeUp 2020, are all highly competitive teams," adding, "the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will actively support senior young entrepreneurs to grow into unicorn companies and junior young entrepreneurs to grow into baby unicorns by overcoming the difficulties experienced in their youth."
