"Surprised by High Quality"... Why ComeUp2020 Created 'Free Promotional Videos' for 120 Startups ComeUp Stars, regarded as the core program of ComeUp 2020, supports the promotion and investment attraction of 120 domestic and international startups selected through a competition with a 9 to 1 ratio. [Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] “I was amazed to see high-quality videos that I had never experienced at other startup festivals. Was our technology really this impressive?”

On the 19th, a representative from a startup participating in the global startup festival ‘ComeUp 2020’ was astonished after watching their company video posted on the site. Unlike typical IR videos produced at startup festivals, which usually require considerable production costs, ComeUp 2020 produced videos for all 120 companies selected as ComeUp Stars free of charge.

‘ComeUp 2020,’ jointly hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the private organizing committee, opened on the 19th at the CJ ENM Production Center in Ilsan, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, kicking off a three-day schedule.

ComeUp Stars, one of the main events of ComeUp 2020, saw applications from 1,076 startups across 89 countries worldwide, recording a competition rate of 9 to 1. The 120 selected companies are categorized into 12 sessions during ComeUp and promote their businesses online.

In particular, one representative company from each session was selected, and their videos were produced applying VR (Virtual Reality) and XR (Extended Reality) technologies.

Um Suwon, CEO of Adriel, a ComeUp Stars selected company, expressed, “The promotional video produced at ComeUp was completed with high quality, which I believe will greatly help promote our company’s platform.”

Along with promotional videos, the 120 companies selected as ComeUp Stars are provided with online booths. Participants who complete pre-registration on the ComeUp website can communicate through the online booths of ComeUp Stars companies. Additionally, an online investment and export consultation meeting is also offered.

Meanwhile, seven special events held alongside ComeUp also attract attention. Especially, the non-face-to-face youth startup idea competition ‘CheongjeongCon Final Pitching’ held on the 19th targets prospective entrepreneurs under the age of 29. It evaluates startup items in six non-face-to-face fields including education, smart healthcare, and entertainment, provides mentoring from senior entrepreneurs, and supports commercialization through the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

An official from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups explained, “As the event was planned as an online event instead of offline, the costs for providing on-site booths were redirected to online booths and video production, enabling the creation of high-quality promotional videos. Through ComeUp 2020, we will spare no effort to support domestic startups in effectively promoting themselves online to global startup ecosystem stakeholders.”
