Advanced Vehicle Inspection Research Center Opens in Gimcheon Innovation City... 30,000 Visitors Annually

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] The Advanced Vehicle Inspection Research Center of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority held an opening ceremony in Gimcheon Innovation City and officially began its work to ensure driving safety for advanced vehicles such as electric cars, hydrogen vehicles, and autonomous vehicles.


The opening ceremony was held with the attendance of Kim Chung-seop, Mayor of Gimcheon, Son Myung-soo, 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, local members of the National Assembly, Lee Woo-cheong, Chairman of the Gimcheon City Council, and the Chairman of the Authority.


With the establishment of this center, Gimcheon City expects to see an influx of about 30,000 people annually, including inspection office workers and related public officials, which will revitalize the local economy and lead the advanced automobile industry as a strategic industry of the region.

Additionally, the 'Tuning Car Performance and Safety Testing Center' is scheduled to be completed in 2023 within the Innovation City, which is being recognized as laying the foundation for the future automobile industry.


Mayor Kim Chung-seop stated, "The next step is to prepare the 'Automobile Service Complex,' which aims to foster the agglomeration of various industries related to future vehicles," adding, "Instead of creating a manufacturing-centered industrial complex, we will develop a complex where various industries such as sales, repair, education, and services can be concentrated in one space," expressing his future plans.
