[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as KOSME) announced on the 18th that it held the 'KOSME Person of the Year Selection Contest' to establish a performance-oriented organizational culture and finally selected three KOSME Persons of the Year who produced outstanding results.
Since last year, KOSME has been holding contests for all employees to reward those with high work performance and share best practices company-wide. This year, a total of 156 tasks were submitted in four areas: realization of social value, innovative growth, job creation, and management performance. After internal evaluation, eight tasks were selected as final candidates, and the contest was held on the afternoon of the 16th at the headquarters in Jinju, Gyeongnam.
The final three were selected on the 17th by combining the results of an online pre-evaluation by all employees for the eight final candidate tasks, the KOSME judging panel's evaluation on the day of the contest, and the mobile evaluation results from a public participation group composed of general citizens and small business owners. The grand prize was awarded to the 'Domestic and Overseas Platform Linkage Project (Online Export Manager Cho Seung-min)' which allows popular promising domestic small business products to be immediately registered and sold on representative online shopping malls worldwide.
In response to the export crisis of small and medium ventures caused by the spread of COVID-19 this year, the newly introduced online export fast-track system and active collaboration with the private sector were recognized as high achievements. The excellence award went to 'KOSME's Digital Transformation and Service Innovation Using New Technology (RPA) in Preparation for the 4th Industrial Revolution and Post-COVID Era (Digital Innovation Office Manager Kim Yoon-seung)', and the encouragement award was given to the task 'Promotion of Daegu Win-Win Job Model and COVID-19 Crisis Overcoming Case (Daegu Regional Headquarters Director Cheon Byung-woo)'.
The employees finally selected in this contest will receive benefits such as commendations from the Minister of SMEs and Startups, personnel points, and special leave according to the rank of the award. KOSME Chairman Kim Hak-do said, "A substantial contest was held, with tasks that proactively responded to COVID-19, such as establishing a non-face-to-face policy fund support system and digital customized export support, and innovating support projects being discovered." KOSME plans to actively apply the excellent tasks discovered through this contest to next year's projects and strengthen the organization's innovation capabilities to provide services that customers can feel and be satisfied with.
