[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Hana Financial Investment on the 17th projected the KOSPI for next year to reach up to 2,900 points and forecasted South Korea's economic growth rate at 2.7%.
Jo Yongjun, Head of the Research Center at Hana Financial Investment, stated during the '2021 Research Outlook Forum' held in an untact format via the official YouTube channel ‘HanaTV’ that “the upper bound of the KOSPI in 2021 is expected to be 2,700 points, potentially reaching up to 2,900 points,” adding, “the KOSPI will enter a recovery phase following a liquidity-driven market after a major crisis.”
Jo also mentioned, “With negative real interest rates and suppression of corporate default risks, preference for stocks over bonds may increase,” and “as net selling of the dollar continues in the US futures market and carry trades become active, attention is shifting toward non-US assets.”
Regarding the global economic outlook for next year, Jo said, “With vaccine development nearing completion and a continued zero interest rate environment, the world economy is expected to grow around 5.2% in 2021,” forecasting that “advanced countries will recover to pre-COVID-19 levels after the end of next year, while emerging countries will recover differentially depending on COVID-19 situations and policies.”
He added, “The Korean economy is expected to grow 2.7% annually in 2021 based on government policies and base effects,” and projected, “the USD-KRW exchange rate will average around 1,124 won in 2021, showing a gentle V-shaped trend.”
The ‘Research Outlook Forum’ hosted by Hana Financial Investment, held untact via the official YouTube channel ‘HanaTV’ over two days starting today, is organized by the Hana Financial Investment Research Center, which holds the most best analysts and is recognized as the industry's top research center.
