'ComeUp 2020' D-2... Pre-registration Approaches 6,000 Participants

Preparing Steadily for the Opening on the 19th

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The global startup festival held in Korea, 'ComeUp 2020' opening is just two days away, with pre-registrations reaching 6,000. ComeUp 2020, held primarily online from the 19th to the 21st, will feature a diverse program including 12 academic conferences by field, 7 special events, and side events.

The ComeUp 2020 Organizing Committee (Private Chairman: Kurly CEO Kim Seul-ah, hereafter Organizing Committee) and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (Director Kim Kwang-hyun, hereafter Kised) announced key details about special lectures, side events, and the opening ceremony stage on the 17th, two days before ComeUp 2020. Since online pre-registration began on the 13th, the number of registrants surpassed 3,600 within two weeks, and as the event approached, interest intensified, accelerating the increase in pre-registrations to over 5,600 as of the 16th.

To fully enjoy ComeUp 2020, which plans to provide various content optimized for a non-face-to-face environment, pre-registration on the official website is essential. The Organizing Committee explained that the enthusiasm for pre-registration reflects high interest in ComeUp 2020, which was planned and prepared from the start as an online-centered event despite the COVID-19 situation, during which major global events such as MWC and SLUSH were canceled or scaled down.

In response to this interest and expectation, the Organizing Committee will broadcast special roundtable discussions featuring top experts in each of the 12 academic conference fields during the mid-breaks over the three days from day one. On the 19th, Mika Huttunen, CEO of SLUSH, the leading startup festival in Northern Europe, will hold a special roundtable on "Startup Support Measures in the Post-COVID Era." On the 20th, Fei-Fei Li, the matriarch of deep learning and AI expert as well as a professor of computer science at Stanford University, will share insights on "The Future of AI and the New Era." On the 21st, Alberto Savoia, Google's first engineering director, innovation expert, and well-known in Korea as the author of "The Laws of Unbeatable Ideas," will deliver a special lecture.

The Korea International Trade Association will also hold an 'Online Export Consultation.' An online commerce exhibition to promote participating companies' online publicity and product sales is also prepared. An 'Online Networking Event' where senior and junior startups meet to share entrepreneurial experiences and know-how will also be held. Participants include Kim Seul-ah, CEO of Kurly and private chairman of ComeUp 2020, as a senior startup, and Jung Se-ju, CEO of NOOM, a healthcare powerhouse in Silicon Valley.

Attention is also focused on the opening ceremony that will mark the start of ComeUp 2020. Held at 10 a.m. on the 19th at CJ ENM Ilsan Production Center, this event will offer spectacular attractions including a stage setup conveying the message "Wisely Overcome Difficulties Caused by COVID-19" and an opening ceremony utilizing extended reality (XR) technology.
