SK Plasma, First in Korea to Export Albumin to NATO

[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] SK Plasma has been selected as the final supplier of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization)'s blood product 'Albumin' this year. This is the first time a domestic pharmaceutical company has supplied medicines to NATO.

On the 17th, SK Plasma stated, "In June, we were selected as the final supplier in NATO Procurement Agency's 'Afghan National Army Trust Fund (ANATF) Medicine Procurement Project,' surpassing global blood-derived pharmaceutical companies, marking our first export opportunity."

The final destination of the albumin supplied by SK is Kabul, Afghanistan. It will be provided to the Afghan military and police, who are experiencing a shortage of essential medicines due to prolonged civil war.

SK Plasma's albumin is a representative blood product indicated for hypoalbuminemia caused by loss (burns, nephrotic syndrome, etc.) and decreased albumin synthesis (cirrhosis, etc.), as well as hemorrhagic shock. SK Plasma has been producing and supplying albumin domestically and internationally since 1984.

SK Plasma plans to continuously participate in international organization bids by expanding its product range beyond NATO. It also intends to participate in international procurement by United Nations (UN) affiliated agencies.

Kim Yun-ho, CEO of SK Plasma, said, "This is a significant achievement in overseas business, from contract to actual export, during the COVID-19 pandemic," adding, "Through this supply, we have proven the excellence and global competitiveness of SK Plasma's blood products, and we will further accelerate our global expansion."
