[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor You Deok-yeol) has installed gobo lights at 20 school commuting routes to effectively deliver no-smoking messages even at night.
The district installed gobo lights mainly in school absolute protection zones (within 50 meters from school entrances), where smoking frequently occurs at night despite being no-smoking areas, to raise awareness among smokers and create a stronger no-smoking environment around schools.
The newly installed gobo lights display phrases such as "You are cool for not smoking on the school commuting route!", "No-smoking zone within 50 meters from the school entrance," and "Always no smoking on the school commuting route."
The district plans to continuously change the image films to convey various messages and illustrations related to no smoking.
You Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, "I hope this gobo light installation will serve as an opportunity to establish a culture of refraining from smoking on school commuting routes," and added, "We will continue to do our best to create a healthy and clean school commuting environment free from cigarette smoke."
