Held under the theme "Yeongdeungpo-gu's Strategy to Prepare for the Post-COVID-19 Medical Tourism Market," this forum will invite domestic and international experts to foresee the prospects of the medical tourism industry and explore response directions amid the rapidly changing global medical tourism environment due to COVID-19.
The forum will be conducted in two sessions. The first session, chaired by Jang Seok-il, Medical Director of Seongae Hospital, will discuss "The Past, Present, and Future of Medical Tourism in Yeongdeungpo-gu," covering topics such as ▲the role of local governments ▲strategies of medical institutions ▲strategies of Yeongdeungpo-gu for the development of medical tourism.
Presentations will be given by Lee Haeng-shin, Head of the Foreign Patient Attraction Team at the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, Cha Jeong-hwa, Head of the Medical Cooperation Center at Seongae Hospital, and No Sang-ok, Officer of the Vision Cooperation Division of Yeongdeungpo-gu.
The second session, titled "Challenges for the Future of Medical Tourism," will be chaired by Professor Jin Ki-nam of Yonsei University, with overseas invited speakers participating via video conference.
Topics to be discussed include ▲ways to enhance competitiveness of medical tourism destinations ▲medical brand marketing through storytelling ▲application of Disney magic to improve medical institution services ▲methods to improve service quality of medical institutions in the COVID-19 era.
Meanwhile, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, this forum will adopt a hybrid format combining the traditional face-to-face event with an online non-face-to-face format. The number of offline attendees on the 18th will be minimized, and the recorded video will be released on the district's YouTube channel "Yeonggune" from December 2 after the forum ends.
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, "Although the medical tourism industry is in a slump due to COVID-19, the status of Korean medical care is rising with new terms such as 'K-quarantine' and 'K-medical' emerging," adding, "I hope this forum will serve as an opportunity to overcome the current crisis and lead the global medical tourism industry in the post-COVID-19 era."
