[Asia Economy Reporter Nana Han] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon criticized Yoo Si-min, chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, saying, "He is deceiving people again using On Liberty."
On the 14th, former professor Jin wrote on his Facebook, addressing Chairman Yoo, "He is deceiving people again using On Liberty. Let me thoroughly expose how ignorant this nonsense is."
Former professor Jin pointed out, "This is not a matter of morality but of intellect," adding, "It seems Yoo Si-min is not doing this knowingly but genuinely does not understand."
He continued, "An intellectual should naturally know this," criticizing, "The problem is someone who claims to be an 'intellectual' but does not know this." He also added, "If you are a 'knowledge retailer,' you should at least have 'knowledge' to sell."
He then said, "See you on the pages of JoongAng Ilbo," previewing a column titled 'Yoo Si-min and the Panopticon,' referencing Jeremy Bentham's Panopticon prison.
Earlier, on the 13th, Chairman Yoo, during the YouTube broadcast 'Alileo 3,' cited John Stuart Mill's On Liberty, arguing, "The government's blockade of the August 15 Gwanghwamun rally was justified, and physically blocking rallies during the COVID-19 situation is a legitimate restriction."
Chairman Yoo explained, "(According to On Liberty) intervention is justified at the point where a person's actions unjustly infringe on the freedom of others."
