[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joon-pyo emphasized the need to newly establish conservative values, stating, "With left-wing second-tier policies, only the core supporters flee."
On the 14th, Hong said on Facebook, "The decisive reason Trump lost in this U.S. presidential election was the rebellion of the core supporters against the Republican Party's damage to conservative values."
He added, "It is time for us to carefully consider how to set our coordinates with fairness as the new era value, but it is truly questionable whether this can be overcome by pursuing left-wing second-tier policies," and said, "With only the left-wing second-tier derivative policies already preempted by them, the left-wing does not come, and only the core supporters flee."
This appears to be a criticism of recent moves by Kim Jong-in, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, who has taken a 'left-click' approach by joining hands with the Justice Party to promote the 'Serious Accident Punishment Act.'
He emphasized, "The next presidential election will undoubtedly be a fierce battle between camps," and "It is time to newly establish conservative values of fairness, freedom, and the common people."
Former leader Hong said, "The basics of elections are strengthening one's own forces and attacking the opposing camp after managing chaos with governance (以治待亂), but the strategy of scattering one's own forces and only glancing at the opposing camp leads to self-destruction," and added, "The party must no longer be reduced to an experimental tool."
