[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] The family of a British girl who went missing while traveling at a tropical rainforest resort in Malaysia and was found dead after ten days is claiming she was 'kidnapped.'

According to major foreign media on the 12th, a reinvestigation is underway into the case of 15-year-old Nora Ann Quoirin, who was found dead last August at a resort in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.

Malaysian police concluded that "Nora was not a victim of a crime," but the judiciary decided to reinvestigate in August this year.

Nora's mother attended the hearing held the day before via video call and raised suspicions, saying, "Nora has a brain disorder and cannot walk well unless the path is flat," and "If Nora had wandered alone in the jungle for several days, there would have been marks on her body, so why are there no wounds?"

She further claimed, "Although I do not know the method or reason, I believe Nora was kidnapped."

Nora's mother testified that she reported to the local police immediately after her daughter went missing, but the local police did not consider the possibility of a crime and treated it as a simple disappearance, refusing to search at night, and communication was difficult due to poor English.

Nora went missing on the first day of a family trip to a tropical rainforest resort about 65 km from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on August 3 last year.

The next morning, her parents found the window open in Nora's room, and she was gone.

The family said Nora has developmental and learning disabilities and a mental age of about 5 to 6 years.

The military, police, and about 300 indigenous people deployed helicopters, drones with thermal imaging, and detection dogs, recorded Nora's mother's voice calling her and played it in the jungle, and even involved shamans, but they could not find Nora.

Nora was found naked and dead in a stream about 2.5 km from the resort ten days after her disappearance.

The police concluded, "The autopsy suggests Nora died from intestinal bleeding caused by starvation and stress," and "No signs of kidnapping or sexual assault were found."
