[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Actor Shin Hyun-joon (51) has been cleared by the prosecution in a defamation case filed by his former manager Kim.
On the 12th, the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office announced that it had dismissed the charges against Shin, who was accused of violating the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation) on the 9th. The Seongbuk Police Station completed its investigation of Shin at the end of last month and forwarded the case to the prosecution with a recommendation for non-prosecution.
Shin's former manager Kim claimed in July that he had been subjected to unfair treatment, including power harassment and verbal abuse, for 13 years. Following this, Kim raised suspicions of Shin's illegal use of propofol and subsequently filed a complaint accusing him of spreading false information and defamation.
In July, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul rejected Kim's complaint regarding Shin's alleged illegal use of propofol, judging that there was no illegality in the administration of the drug.
Through his legal representative, Shin stated, "The allegations made by Kim regarding propofol use and power harassment have all been proven false through the investigation," adding, "I filed a defamation suit against Kim and will continue to hold him fully accountable."
