Delivery App 'Ddingdong' Expands Payment Options to Include Onnuri Gift Certificates

Partnering with Small Enterprise and Market Service to Integrate Onnuri Gift Certificate Payment Method in 'Ddingdong'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Honeybees, the operator of the delivery app 'Ddingdong' (CEO Yoon Moon-jin), announced on the 12th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Small Enterprise and Market Service (SEMAS) to apply Onnuri Gift Certificates as a major payment method. Honeybees has begun integration work and plans to launch the service in December.

The Onnuri Gift Certificates issued by SEMAS were introduced to revitalize and foster traditional markets. They can be used at traditional markets and restaurants nationwide. There are approximately 140,000 affiliated stores across the country. Anyone can purchase them at a 10% discount.

By incorporating Onnuri Gift Certificates as a payment method, Ddingdong has become a delivery app that supports various local currencies and gift certificates. Previously, Ddingdong signed MOUs to apply payment methods for Seoul Love Gift Certificates, the local currency of Seoul, Siheung City's mobile Siru in Gyeonggi Province, and Cheonan Love Card in Cheonan City, Chungnam Province.

Ddingdong plans to establish itself as a leading food delivery platform where orders can be placed using local currencies and Onnuri Gift Certificates. Song Hyo-chan, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Honeybees, explained, "Local governments can increase the usability of local currencies, which were previously only available in offline stores, and consumers in the untact era can enjoy food at discounted prices using local currencies. Small business owners can also expand their channels with low fees, allowing them to focus more on the essence of food."
