CJ Logistics Introduces 'Eco-Friendly Paper Cushioning' for Box Packaging

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] CJ Logistics announced on the 12th that it has jointly developed an 'eco-friendly paper cushioning material' with Murim Paper and Hyowon Machinery, and will introduce it in box packaging for client companies.

Cushioning material is an accessory used to fill empty spaces when packaging products in boxes to protect the contents. The newly developed eco-friendly paper cushioning material is made of 100% paper and barrier coating. Compared to existing plastic or vinyl cushioning materials, it can reduce excessive packaging and the potential for environmental pollution.

In particular, this paper cushioning material is injected with air inside the paper packaging, providing excellent strength to bear weight, which not only offers superior product protection but also allows for recycling. It is designed so that the sealed opening tears easily when discarded, and since it is made of paper material, it can be separated and recycled at home.

CJ Logistics plans to introduce this eco-friendly paper cushioning material starting from global clients on the 16th and gradually expand its use. Kim Kyung-hoon, head of the TES Logistics Technology Research Institute at CJ Logistics, stated, "Currently, with the increase in online orders, the demand for delivery has risen, leading to increased use of packaging materials, and preventing environmental pollution caused by this has become a social issue. Eco-friendliness in logistics is an important agenda, and we plan to expand consensus with client companies to promote eco-friendly logistics in the future."
