Dongjak-gu Allows Use of General Volume-Based Waste Bags (20ℓ, 30ℓ, 50ℓ) with Exclusive Stickers Until December 20... Establishes 'Comprehensive Winter Cleaning Measures' Including Street Cleaning and Snow Removal Support... To Be Implemented Until March 15 Next Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) is implementing the "Kimchi-making Season Food Waste Disposal Measures" until December 20th in response to the kimchi-making season.
This measure was prepared to alleviate residents' inconvenience caused by the increased volume of food waste from kimchi-making.
The target includes all households using small food waste bags in the area, such as apartments, detached houses, and row houses.
During this period, medium-sized general volume-based waste bags (20ℓ, 30ℓ, 50ℓ) with a "Kimchi-making Waste Exclusive Sticker" can be used for disposing of kimchi residues such as napa cabbage and radish. After the period, food waste bags must be used as before. However, only kimchi-making waste should be placed in the volume-based bags, and mixing with general waste will result in a fine of up to 100,000 KRW. Volume-based bags with stickers will be collected by food waste exclusive vehicles.
The district has produced about 30,000 "Kimchi-making Waste Exclusive Stickers," which residents in need can receive by visiting each community service center and volume-based waste bag sales locations.

Meanwhile, the district has prepared a "Winter Cleaning Comprehensive Plan" and will conduct cleaning of vulnerable areas such as streets and alleys, as well as waste disposal and snow removal support during heavy snowfall, for four months until March 15th next year.
Street cleaning vehicles will operate at least once a day, strengthening cleaning patrol activities in key management areas such as around multi-use facilities and areas prone to illegal dumping.
Until December 13th, street leaf collection will be focused on three times daily, prioritizing cleaning on slopes to alleviate residents' inconvenience in passage and prevent safety accidents in advance.
Additionally, a waste disposal guidebook to improve household waste disposal habits will be distributed, and publicity for the "Metropolitan Landfill Total Import Quota System," implemented since this year, will also be promoted.
Lee Kwang-jung, head of the Cleaning Administration Division, said, "We have prepared measures to minimize residents' inconvenience caused by food waste disposal issues during the kimchi-making season," and added, "We ask for the interest and efforts of residents to reduce waste in daily life."
