[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Sehwa IMC announced on the 10th that it will support 3D printing production technology to domestic large corporations. The collaboration includes parts production technology and mold mass production technology.
The company plans to actively engage in 3D printing technology collaborations with other companies, starting with this large corporation technology support. A company representative stated, “Sehwa IMC possesses not only 3D printing tire mold production technology but also production technologies for shoes, medical supplies, and automotive parts,” adding, “Since it can be applied in various fields, we will continue cooperation with other companies requiring 3D printing technology.”
Sehwa IMC anticipated the growth potential of the 3D printing industry and introduced 3D printing equipment starting in 2013. The company representative said, “In the early stages of technology adoption, we focused on tire mold manufacturing, which is our main business sector, and accumulated related technical know-how over several years,” and added, “Gradually, the demand for 3D printed products increased, and we are quickly responding to customers’ requests for molds incorporating 3D printed parts.”
The company representative explained, “The new car development cycle is expected to decrease from the existing 3 years to 1 year, and the market demands a faster development speed for tires accordingly,” further stating, “Our company is fully committed to rapid mold production in line with market changes, and the development of 3D printers will bring significant achievements in cost reduction and new product development through revolutionary lead time reduction and efficient workforce allocation.”
Son Odong, CEO of Sehwa IMC, said, “We are steadily advancing technology development not only in new businesses such as masks but also in the existing tire mold sector,” and added, “We will strengthen the competitiveness of our stable existing business and actively promote new businesses for future growth.”
Meanwhile, the company incorporated CubeTech, a specialized 3D printer company, as an affiliate in 2016 and has been engaged in the development of 3D printer systems.
