The KDI School of Public Policy and Management (Dean Yoo Jong-il, hereinafter KDI School) announced on the 10th that it will hold the "Asia South-South Development Cooperation Webinar Series" together with the Asia Foundation from today until the 13th.
This webinar series was organized to discuss future tasks under the theme "Changes in Asian Development Cooperation in the Era of COVID-19," involving donor and recipient countries of Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects, Asian multilateral organizations such as the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Women’s Wing, and other non-governmental actors.
Each series is composed around the themes of "New Changes in Official Development Assistance/South-South Cooperation for Asian Developing Countries in the Era of COVID-19," "Increasing Role of Asian Non-Governmental Actors Responding to COVID-19," and "Multilateralism in Asia after COVID-19." Gordon Hein, Vice President of the Asia Foundation, Son Wook, Director of the KDI School, and Kim Kwang-wook, Representative of the Asia Foundation Korea Branch, will deliver congratulatory and opening remarks respectively.
Government officials from emerging Asian donor and recipient countries such as China, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and the Philippines, as well as experts in international development, are expected to attend. Representatives from international organizations such as the United Nations and ASEAN, as well as NGO groups, will participate as speakers.
Son Wook, Director of the KDI School, stated, "Through this Asia South-South Development Cooperation Webinar Series, we expect to share opinions among Asian development cooperation experts on changes in international development cooperation following the outbreak of COVID-19, thereby strengthening effective responses among Asian countries to the spread of infectious diseases."
The KDI School?Asia Foundation Asia South-South Development Cooperation Webinar Series will provide simultaneous English-Korean interpretation. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the sessions will be held via video conference combined with small-scale on-site presentations, and all sessions require prior registration for attendance.
