[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] The police have launched an investigation after a CCTV video showing a man and a woman assaulting each other in an underground shopping center in Busan spread on Facebook and other online communities. The video, which captures the man continuously assaulting the fallen woman, has caused a significant public outcry. The incident is spreading under titles such as 'Deokcheon Underground Shopping Center,' 'Busan Assault,' and 'Busan Deokcheon Underground Shopping Center.'

On the 10th, the Buk-gu Police Station in Busan announced that it has begun investigating the so-called 'Deokcheon Underground Shopping Center Man-Woman Assault Incident' in Deokcheon-dong, Buk-gu.

According to the police, at around 1:13 a.m. on the 7th, a man and a woman, estimated to be in their 20s, were fighting and assaulting each other at the Deokcheon Underground Shopping Center.

The CCTV footage showing the assault captures the man and woman briefly stopping to talk before swinging fists and feet at each other.

The man punched the woman, and the woman kicked the man, resulting in mutual assault for some time.

Then, the man began to hit the woman unilaterally, swinging his fist toward her face. He repeatedly struck the fallen woman's head with a cellphone and also kicked her.

The video began spreading on Facebook and YouTube from the night of the 9th, prompting the police to start an investigation.

A police official stated, "We are investigating the identities of the man and woman as well as the extent of their injuries." The police also plan to investigate not only the assault incident but also those who distributed the video.
