Theater and Online Platform Interconnection... Predicting Box Office Success Through Integrated Data Analysis
South Korea's largest multiplex CGV and online video service (OTT) Watcha have joined hands. On the 9th, they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to expand their business areas through integrated data analysis based on movie content. Going forward, they will collaborate with the goals of ▲integrated data analysis and utilization ▲online and offline platform cooperation and business expansion ▲discovery of new businesses based on data and platforms.
CGV will finely analyze customer preferences by adding Watcha's online consumption data to the accumulated theater viewing data. Watcha operates not only OTT but also the content recommendation and evaluation service 'WatchaPedia.' Watcha stated, "We possess vast preference data and personalized recommendation technology," and added, "Combining this with CGV's theater infrastructure and screening data can create great synergy." Park Tae-hoon, CEO of Watcha, said, "We expect to create new added value," and "We will provide new and differentiated experiences through Watcha's unique know-how and data technology." The collaboration will continue in countries where CGV has expanded, such as Vietnam and Indonesia. CGV said, "We plan to introduce the cooperation model from Korea and review service promotion."
