[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Lotte Mart will hold the 'Let's Support Korean Agriculture Discount' event at all stores from the 11th to the 18th.
Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, this event is planned as a nationwide online and offline consumption promotion campaign, including the issuance of discount coupons, to resolve the sluggish consumption of agricultural products due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. Although large mart discount events usually start on Thursdays, this event is advanced by one day considering that the 11th, Wednesday, is 'Farmer's Day.'
This 'Let's Support Korean Agriculture Discount' event will be held under three themes: 'Good Day for Kimchi Making,' 'Eco-friendly Agricultural Products,' and 'Korea Seafood Festival.' L.POINT members can receive an immediate discount of up to 30,000 KRW when paying with eligible cards such as Lotte Card and Shinhan Card. For each theme, a 10,000 KRW discount is applied when purchasing products worth over 50,000 KRW, allowing a maximum benefit of 30,000 KRW when applied across all three themes.
First, the 'Good Day for Kimchi Making' event features 'Yeongwol Kim Woosung's Pickled Napa Cabbage,' selling 10kg for 24,800 KRW and 20kg for 41,800 KRW. Fresh oysters (100g/refrigerated/domestic) are offered at 2,280 KRW, and Hongseong Heungsan Garlic (1kg/net) at 9,800 KRW. Under the 'Eco-friendly Korean Agricultural Products' theme, GAP-certified eco-friendly oyster mushrooms (500g) are sold for 2,480 KRW, Jangyeonyeo eco-friendly sweet potatoes (1.5kg) for 9,980 KRW, and trimmed king oyster mushrooms (300g x 2) for 2,980 KRW.
The seafood consumption promotion event, held in cooperation with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, includes the 'Korea Seafood Festival.' Freshly trimmed live freshwater eel (600g) is sold for 27,800 KRW, Jeju fresh hairtail (2 large fish/1 extra-large fish/refrigerated) for 9,900 KRW each, and L.POINT members can purchase dried yellow corvina (0.6kg/10 pieces/frozen/domestic) for 8,820 KRW and Wando live abalone (4 large pieces/refrigerated/domestic) for 9,600 KRW.
Kim Chang-yong, Head of Lotte Mart's Product Division, said, "This event was prepared in line with the purpose of Farmer's Day, established to raise awareness that agriculture is the foundation of the national economy," and added, "We hope this event provides consumers with an opportunity to purchase Korean agricultural products at reasonable prices."
