[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Joo-hee] On the 9th, Kang Byung-won, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said to Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, "He himself must decide whether to step down."

On the same day, Kang appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and argued, "If the Prosecutor General has stepped so far into the political forefront, he himself must decide whether to step down; no one else can remove him."

Kang pointed out, "The Prosecutor General has a fixed term. If someone tries to remove or dismiss him, there must be clear evidence of illegal or unlawful acts for the public to see," adding, "You cannot remove someone just because you dislike what they are doing, and the term should be guaranteed."

In response, Seong Il-jong, a member of the People Power Party who appeared together, said, "(Prosecutor General Yoon) engaged in political acts. That is illegal," and added, "He did not maintain political neutrality and engaged in political activities. Instead of trying to oust the Prosecutor General for unreasonable reasons, they should request his dismissal and remove him accordingly."

Then Kang said, "On what legal basis can you say that is illegal?" emphasizing, "Everyone knows he is engaging in political acts. However, this does not violate the law."

He continued, "So far, the prosecution, including Prosecutor General Yoon, has done everything to protect the prosecution's vested interests," and said, "He infringed on the president's personnel authority while investigating Cho Kuk (former Minister of Justice). He obstructed the National Assembly's confirmation hearings. Moreover, by interfering even in government policies, he is revealing the true nature of a political prosecutor. But this is not illegal."
