Support for Youth Activities in Jobs, Housing, and Cultural Contents... Laying the Foundation for Proposing Youth Policies
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is making efforts to revitalize youth governance.
Guro-gu announced on the 9th, "We are supporting youth to directly plan youth policies and form governance so that they can proactively decide on projects."
Youths in Guro-gu have been continuing various activities this year in the fields of jobs, housing, cultural contents, and the youth council.
First, through the ‘Youth Job job-G’ project, region-customized ideas are being discovered. In September, a youth job project contest was held, selecting three teams and providing activity funds for each project. This month, activity reports and presentations and discussions on job improvement plans will be held.
The ‘Guro Youth Housing A to Z’ project is also being implemented to support youth housing. For this, 43 youths from three zones within the region were selected as Guro Youth Housing Editors.
They identify vulnerabilities and difficulties in housing life by zone and produce a Youth Housing Life White Paper containing housing content, neighborhood stories, and educational information.
In August and September, the online education program ‘Guro Youth Housing Road’ for youth covering housing policy, welfare, and finance was also operated.
Through the youth cultural arts project ‘Youth, Play in Guro (Cheongnyeon, Guroeseo NolG)’, support for cultural content production is provided. The Guro Youth Content Planning Group was selected to discover, promote, and plan youth cultural artists in the region. Nine cultural arts teams, whose activities became difficult due to COVID-19, were selected to support content production and establish a cultural artist network.
In July, the Guro Youth Council was also launched. Based on policy proposals derived from five months of legislative activities, a presentation and completion ceremony were held on the 7th of this month.
From the 17th to the 19th of this month, a performance exhibition of the youth housing and cultural arts project ‘Art-House 展’ will be held at the first-floor plaza of G-Valley Mall.
A Guro-gu official said, “Youths are becoming more withdrawn due to COVID-19,” and added, “We will do our best to prepare various projects to support youths.”
