Responsibility for Conflict Between Chu and Yoon... Chu Mi-ae 36%, Yoon Seok-yeol 24%, Both 34%

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] A public opinion poll revealed that many people believe Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae holds greater responsibility for the conflict with Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol.

According to the nationwide indicator survey (NBS) conducted by four professional polling firms?Embrain Public, K Stat Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research?from November 5 to 7 among 1,002 men and women aged 18 and older nationwide, 36% of respondents said Minister Chu was responsible for the conflict between the two, which is 12 percentage points higher than the 24% who said Prosecutor General Yoon was responsible.

Responses indicating that both were equally at fault accounted for 34%, while 6% answered "don't know" or did not respond.

By ideological inclination, 47% of progressives said Prosecutor General Yoon bore more responsibility, while only 13% said Minister Chu was responsible. Conversely, among conservatives, 63% said Minister Chu was more responsible, significantly higher than the 7% who said Prosecutor General Yoon was responsible.

Among supporters of the Democratic Party of Korea, 48% attributed responsibility to Prosecutor General Yoon and 8% to Minister Chu, showing more respondents blamed Yoon. In contrast, among supporters of the People Power Party, 84% held Minister Chu responsible, overwhelmingly higher than the 2% who blamed Prosecutor General Yoon.

The survey was conducted from November 5 to 7 among 1,002 adult men and women, with a response rate of 23.5%. The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
