[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] AP News reported on the 7th (local time) that Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential candidate, has won the U.S. election. Kamala Harris will become the first female Vice President of the United States.

AP News declared that Biden was elected as the 46th President of the United States after winning Pennsylvania on the fourth day of vote counting following the presidential election.

AP reported that Biden surpassed the 'magic number' of 270 electoral votes needed for victory by winning Pennsylvania. The New York Times reported that Biden secured 273 electoral votes.

Although President Donald Trump has not conceded and legal battles are inevitable, Biden will be inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States on January 20 next year.

On the other hand, if President Trump is confirmed to lose the lawsuits, he will be recorded as the first president to fail re-election in 28 years since former President George H. W. Bush in 1992. Among the 45 U.S. presidents in history, only 10 have failed to win re-election so far.
