Daedong Hospital, "Stopped the Spread of COVID-19" ... Awarded the 'COVID-19 Overcoming Medical Volunteer Service Award'

At the 12th Busan International Medical Tourism Convention Co-hosted by Busan City and Busan City Hospital Association

Kang Jeong-eun, head of the Infection Control Office at Daedong Hospital and a specialist in laboratory medicine, received the 'COVID-19 Overcoming Medical Volunteer Award.'

Busan City, the Busan City Hospital Association, and Busan Ilbo jointly established the ‘COVID-19 Overcoming Medical Volunteer Award’ to encourage medical personnel and volunteers who contributed to preventing the spread of infection in the Busan area with a sense of duty during the COVID-19 crisis.

This time, 13 awardees were selected, including the ▲Busan Mayor’s Award ▲Busan Ilbo President’s Award ▲National Assembly Member Award ▲Busan City Hospital Association President’s Award.

Head Kang was recognized for her dedication to Daedong Hospital’s COVID-19 response, including swiftly responding to the first confirmed COVID-19 case in the Busan area and preventing further spread of infection, and received the ‘Busan City Hospital Association President’s Award.’

In her acceptance speech, Kang Jeong-eun, head of the Infection Control Office, said, “Since the end of January, all Daedong Hospital staff have been working on the front lines to prevent community infection, and I believe this award is received on behalf of Daedong Hospital and its employees.”

She added, “Although the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic is exhausting and difficult, I will do my best with the sense of duty that protecting the health of local residents is the role of medical personnel.”

Park Kyung-hwan, director of Daedong Hospital, said, “I sincerely congratulate Head Kang Jeong-eun for her award after serving as head of the Infection Control Office for the past four years, and we will strengthen the role of the Infection Control Office to prevent infectious diseases such as COVID-19 in the local community through this award.”

Daedong Hospital was evaluated as having prevented hospital and community infections even in the crisis situation where the first confirmed COVID-19 case and death occurred in the Busan area by quickly establishing an infectious disease response process when the number of domestic COVID-19 infections exceeded 10 in February.
