Emart, '27th Anniversary' Discount Sale... "Boosting Kosepe"

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Emart, celebrating its 27th anniversary this year, announced on the 5th that it will hold a large-scale store opening commemorative event combined with the Korea Sale Festa for two weeks.


Through the store opening commemorative event, Emart will continue the ‘SSG Day’ craze, which recently achieved more than double the sales compared to the previous year, and participate in revitalizing the Korea Sale Festa.


First, as part of the 27th anniversary store opening event, Emart will introduce 18 types of Limited Deal products. Limited Deal is a program where Emart sells about 10 products each month in limited quantities at special prices through pre-planning with partner companies and reducing its own margins, and it has been expanded to 18 types to commemorate the store opening.


Key items include seasonal persimmons (8-12 pieces) offered as a one-plus-one (1+1) deal at 5,980 KRW for a limited quantity of 100,000 bags. Post Coco Ball Jungle Expedition (550g) is available in a limited quantity of 50,000 units, and customers can purchase two at a 50% discounted price of 6,980 KRW. Chilsung Cider and Chilsung Cider Low Sugar (each 1.5L) are bundled and offered at a 30% discount for 2,980 KRW, limited to 40,000 units. TS Luxury Shampoo (500g) is available at 17,500 KRW, 50% off for 40,000 units, and Oak Smoked Eggs (20 pieces) are offered at 3,990 KRW, 50% off for 75,000 units.


Essential daily necessities are also offered with dramatic benefits. Products such as Cody Beige Soft Toilet Paper, Jayeonpong Kitchen Detergent, Aura Delight Fabric Softener, and Ryo Jin Gyeolmo Hair Loss Prevention Shampoo are sold at discounted prices. Some processed foods like gochujang, cereal, and snacks are sold with a 1+1 discount.


Winter clothing is also on sale. Emart Days warmwear, Heatfeel, for both children and adults, is available at a 50% discount when purchasing two items with the event card, and all Days men's and women's winter sweaters are sold at a 30% discount.


Fresh food will be offered at shockingly low prices for one week until the 11th. In collaboration with the Korean Pork Association, Emart will promote consumption of less-preferred pork parts such as hind legs, front legs, and ribs to support farmers. The total quantity is 150 tons, with 60 tons of hind legs, which is usually a monthly supply, prepared for the one-week event. Grade 1 or higher Korean pork hind leg meat is sold at 380 KRW per 100g, a 45% discount, while front leg and rib meat are sold at about 20-30% discounted prices of 780 KRW. Additionally, Shinsegae Point members can purchase all Korean beef pack steaks at a 20% discount and all antibiotic-free chicken parts at up to 30% off. Gyeonggi rice Koshihikari 10kg is sold with a 10,000 KRW discount.


Seafood is offered through the ‘Korea Genuine Seafood Festival’ jointly held with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. Live abalone, Jeju silver hairtail, and fresh squid are sold at up to 20% off with a discount of up to 10,000 KRW for Shinsegae Point members. The 20% discounted prices are 7,960 KRW for 5 live abalones (medium size, about 280g each), which is about half the regular price; 3,920 KRW for Jeju silver hairtail (large, about 300g); and 4,880 KRW for one domestic fresh squid (about 300g).


Furthermore, customers who purchase over 100,000 KRW with the event card will receive an ‘Ansim eMart’ set consisting of 5 masks, 30 hand sanitizing wet wipes, and 30 antibacterial cleaners. A total of 98,000 Ansim eMart sets are prepared, and the event will end when the stock at each store is depleted.


Especially this year, Emart plans to enhance online-offline synergy by introducing major products of the store opening commemorative event through SSG.com live broadcasts in a ‘Flyer Live’ content. The broadcast can be viewed on the SSG.com app for one hour starting at 11 a.m. on the 6th, where a show host will tour the Emart Seongsu store and introduce event products.
