[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) will hold a travel concert titled ‘On the Way to the Airport’ to comfort residents exhausted from the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
On the 4th, Guro-gu announced, “In the COVID era where travel is not free, we have prepared the ‘On the Way to the Airport’ concert so that residents can share interesting travel episodes, exchange memories, and enjoy musical performances.”
The ‘On the Way to the Airport’ concert will be held on the 28th from 3 PM for 90 minutes at the Guro-gu Community Center auditorium. Audience members will participate by introducing their own travel photos, stories, and travel tips.
There will also be performances. The band ‘Sinnaneun Seom’ will play various genres such as polka, swing, and Irish music with the bright and warm sounds of acoustic instruments.
Kim Yunhwan will perform the Australian traditional instrument didgeridoo combined with beatboxing while sharing impressive stories about Australia. The Guro-gu Children’s Choir will also showcase their polished skills.
Applications for attendance are open from 6 PM on the 6th until 12 PM on the 15th via the district office website. A total of 150 people aged 8 and above will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to those submitting travel photos and stories. Results will be individually notified on the 18th. Details may change according to quarantine guidelines. Admission is free.
To prevent COVID-19, Guro-gu will enforce social distancing between seats and check attendees for mask-wearing and fever symptoms.
The travel concert can also be watched live through the official YouTube channel of the Guro G Festival.
A Guro-gu official said, “We hope this performance will be an opportunity to relieve the frustration of residents who cannot travel,” and added, “We will continue to prepare various cultural events to comfort residents who are tired.”
