[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Kim] The Financial Security Institute announced on the 3rd that it held the awards ceremony for 'FIESTA 2020,' the only cyber threat analysis competition in the domestic financial sector.
Since 2018, the Financial Security Institute has been hosting a cyber threat analysis competition specialized for the financial sector to discover and nurture experts in financial security threat analysis and to strengthen the financial sector's cyber threat response capabilities.
Starting this year, the competition expanded its participants to include university (graduate) students in addition to employees of financial companies, with a total of 194 teams (38 teams from financial companies, 120 university teams, and 36 internal staff teams) and 345 participants.
The awards ceremony, held the previous day at the Financial Security Education Center in Yeouido, Seoul, featured a competition covering 17 problems across four fields: forensics, malware, mobile, and web hacking. Seven teams were selected, including three from the financial company division and four from the university (graduate) division.
In the financial company division, Koscom (Assistant Manager Hyunkyoo Jo and 2 others) won the Grand Prize, Kakao Pay (Dongkyu Woo) received the Excellence Award, and KB Kookmin Bank (Assistant Manager Juwon Bang and 2 others) was awarded the Encouragement Prize.
In the university (graduate) division, the shoo-in team (Jaehun Kim and 2 others) won the Grand Prize, the Inyeondeul team (Heeju Kim and 2 others) received the Excellence Award, and the GoldBo1 team (Younghoon Kim and 2 others) and the N0Named team (Junhyuk Kang and 2 others) each received the Encouragement Prize.
Kim Young-gi, President of the Financial Security Institute, stated, “We will continue to expand and develop FIESTA, the financial sector cyber threat analysis competition, to secure specialized personnel necessary for threat response in the financial sector and to strengthen the overall threat response capabilities of the financial industry.”
