[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 2nd that it will conduct a pilot project for a new logistics model, 'Incheon Airport Lounge a (ICN Lounge a),' starting this December to support the activation of e-commerce exports by domestic companies through Amazon.

ICN Lounge a is a new logistics model that centralizes and processes all logistics procedures required when domestic companies export through Amazon, a U.S. e-commerce platform company, at a logistics center within the Incheon Airport logistics complex.

Incheon International Airport Corporation plans to start the pilot project for business feasibility analysis for three months until February next year, after recruiting participating businesses for two weeks from today. Domestic companies participating in the pilot project only need to deliver their goods to the logistics center of designated logistics companies located in the Incheon Airport Free Trade Zone for export through the Amazon marketplace. Thereafter, the designated logistics companies will collectively handle international transportation, import/export customs clearance, and delivery to Amazon fulfillment centers (FBA).

Incheon International Airport Corporation expects that domestic companies will greatly benefit from simplified e-commerce procedures to expand exports through this pilot project, amid the rapid growth of the cross-border e-commerce market and the activation of online consumption due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

Lim Nam-su, Acting President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, stated, "By successfully promoting the pilot project of the new logistics model, we plan to secure Incheon Airport's superiority in the global e-commerce logistics market and firmly establish a growth foundation to prepare for the post-COVID-19 era."
