Education on Key Amendments Following Enforcement of the Building Management Act... For Building Managers on November 5 and December 7, Conveying Enhanced Safety Management Obligations and Building Lifecycle Management System Maintenance... Students Maintain Distance, Staff Assigned
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) will conduct education sessions related to the enforcement of the 'Building Management Act' on November 5 and December 7 for building management entities responsible for regular inspections within the district, aiming for stable operation of the system and establishment of a building management framework.
The education will be expanded to two sessions due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines recommending refraining from indoor events with more than 50 participants.
Furthermore, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, all attendees will be required to wear masks, use hand sanitizer, register attendance, maintain social distancing, and management personnel will be assigned to oversee the sessions.
The first session on November 5 will be held from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and the second session on December 7 will take place from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the annex auditorium of the district office.
The classes will be led by Baek Min-seok, Vice President of the Seoul Architectural Society, who will cover key changes such as the building lifecycle management system, timing and targets of regular inspections, and designation of inspection agencies.
The district has already sent postal notices about the education schedule to 136 buildings subject to regular inspections in 2020, and officials responsible for building management-related tasks will also attend to ensure practical and effective education.
The main educational topics include the 'Building Management Act' enforced from May 1 this year, covering ▲ the establishment of a building lifecycle management system for systematic management from approval of use to demolition ▲ and changes regarding the timing of initial safety inspections and regular inspections.
With the enforcement of the Building Management Act strengthening the safety management obligations of building managers, the district plans to thoroughly guide essential amendments and clearly communicate differences from previous systems to promote swift and stable establishment of the law.
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “We are holding this education to facilitate early settlement of the newly introduced systems under the Building Management Act,” and added, “We will continue to provide guidance and publicity to ensure building managers do not face any inconvenience.”
