[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Kim Hayong, chairman of the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council, announced on the 31st that he was elected as the vice chairman of the 17th National Association of Chairpersons of City and Provincial Councils for the first half of the term.

The National Association of Chairpersons of City and Provincial Councils held its 5th extraordinary meeting of 2020 on the 30th at Baekyang Tourist Hotel in Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, and elected Chairman Kim Hayong as the vice chairman for the Yeongnam region.

Chairman Kim stated, “We will promote mutual exchange and cooperation regarding the development of local autonomy and the operation of local councils, and actively address common issues of local councils.” He added, “We will do our best to resolve common issues of city and provincial councils nationwide, including the full revision bill of the Local Autonomy Act currently pending in the National Assembly.”

Meanwhile, the National Association of Chairpersons of City and Provincial Councils, composed of chairpersons from 17 city and provincial councils nationwide, serves as an organization to promote mutual exchange and cooperation regarding the development of local autonomy and the operation of local councils, as well as to enhance residents' welfare.
