[Asia Economy Reporter Nahana] Comedian Kim Cheol-min (53, male), who is battling lung cancer, is reported to have taken a final trip to Jeju Island.
According to the online entertainment media OSEN on the 30th, comedian Kim Cheol-min, who is in the terminal stage of cancer, traveled to Jeju Island.
In a phone call with the media, DJ Hashim, known as Kim Cheol-min's friend of 30 years, said, "I heard the other day that the Nuclear Hospital contacted us saying his condition was not good," adding, "I heard Kim Cheol-min's tumor marker level exceeded 3000. His liver has also expanded, and so has his lung, so his condition is not good."
DJ Hashim also said, "(Kim Cheol-min) said he wanted to take a final trip and needed to come to terms with things," and added, "The chemotherapy drugs he is currently taking have developed resistance, so he needs to receive other treatments. Those require a 1-night, 2-day hospital stay for injections, but he does not want to go through that because the side effects, such as hair loss, are severe."
He continued, "I call him the Phoenix," and expressed strong faith in Kim Cheol-min by saying, "I just believe he will overcome this."
Earlier, Kim Cheol-min was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in August last year, and in November of the same year, he claimed on social media that taking the 'dog dewormer' fenbendazole significantly reduced his pain.
However, on the 22nd, during a video participation in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's national audit, he stated, "Last year, a patient named Joe Tippens in the United States was diagnosed with lung cancer and given a terminal prognosis but was declared cured after taking fenbendazole. I also took fenbendazole, but my cancer worsened and metastasized to the cervical vertebrae to the extent that major surgery was required. My doctor told me to stop taking the dewormer," highlighting issues with unverified treatment methods and immediately ceased taking fenbendazole.
