[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The prosecution, which is investigating allegations that Yonsei University professors admitted the vice president's daughter to graduate school through fraudulent means in 2016, has recently conducted a search and seizure of the research offices of the professors involved.

The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office reportedly sent investigators to the research offices of the professors related to Ms. A's fraudulent graduate school admission case to secure admission-related documents.

Ms. A's father is Professor Lee Kyung-tae of the Department of Business Administration, who was the vice president of Yonsei University's International Campus in 2016.

In July, the Ministry of Education announced the results of a comprehensive audit revealing that six evaluation committee professors at the university colluded with the chief professor to manipulate oral exam scores of applicants in order to admit Ms. A to the general graduate program of the Department of Business Administration in 2016, and referred those involved in the fraudulent admission to the prosecution on charges of obstruction of business.

Ms. A ranked 9th out of 16 applicants in the document screening, which involved quantitative evaluations such as university grades and English scores, but was ultimately admitted after receiving a perfect score of 100 on the qualitative oral exam.

The prosecution is expected to summon the professors who participated as evaluation committee members, including Professor Lee, for questioning once the analysis of the seized materials is completed.
